Project
YuMate
A Windows-first Electron AI desktop pet that renders animated sprites, chats via OpenAI-compatible providers, and speaks with EdgeTTS.

About YuMate
YuMate is a floating AI desktop companion for Windows. It's rendered as a transparent animated sprite pack, chats with you through OpenAI-compatible providers, and speaks aloud using Microsoft EdgeTTS when speech is enabled. State, conversations, and pet packs live in a local SQLite database.
Features
- Animated pet packs — drop-your-own sprite format with configurable idle, walk, talk frames
- AI chat — talk to your pet via any OpenAI-compatible endpoint
- Voice output — EdgeTTS-powered speech so the pet actually talks back
- Persistent state — SQLite-backed history, settings, and pets
- Desktop transparency — rendered above any window, custom-positionable
Architecture
Electron shell with a TypeScript backend. Pet packs are folder-based with a pet.json descriptor and a sprite sheet (or PNG/WebP image). Adding a new pet is as simple as dropping a folder.
